Resort 2027 Runway Silhouette Trend: Capris
Resort 2027 Runway Silhouette Trend: Capris
After several seasons of increasingly relaxed proportions, capri pants are making a return for Resort 2026, and designers are bringing back the silhouette in surprisingly literal form.
These aren’t wide-leg crops or culottes loosely borrowing from the idea. Across collections from Zimmermann, Isabel Marant, DSquared2, Sea, Norma Kamali, and Elie Saab, pants are slim through the leg and finish between the knee and mid-calf: the recognizable capri silhouette that has cycled in and out of fashion for decades.
What varies across collections is styling – At Zimmermann, white capris are paired with a fitted polo, scarf, and brimmed hat for a polished take on classic resort dressing. Isabel Marant gives the silhouette a more casual, slightly boho attitude, while DSquared2 leans heavily into its early-2000s associations with a low-rise red pair and cropped striped top.
Elsewhere, the capri becomes unexpectedly dressy. Sea layers a fitted lace version beneath fur-trimmed separates, Norma Kamali renders the shape in sleek tan, and Elie Saab pairs black capris with dramatic lace for an evening interpretation.
That range is significant. Rather than returning as a single retro styling story, the silhouette is appearing across aesthetics and occasions – from casual and sporty to polished and overtly feminine.
It also arrives after years in which volume has dominated bottoms. Wide-leg trousers, oversized denim, relaxed tailoring, and long shorts aren’t disappearing, but Resort 2027’s fitted capris offer a noticeably different proportion: narrower, shorter, and much closer to the body.
Whether capris become a major commercial silhouette remains to be seen, but the runway direction is clear. One of fashion’s more divisive pant lengths is officially back in the conversation.
