Fur has been steadily re-entering the fashion conversation, but Resort 2027 takes the trend a step further. Rather than appearing primarily as collars, cuffs, trims, or accessories, designers are committing to full fur coats and jackets—and the effect is deliberately conspicuous.
Across collections from Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Khaite, Valentino, A.L.C., Self-Portrait, Adam Lippes, Rachel Comey, and Isabel Marant, fur becomes the focal point of the look. Silhouettes range from sweeping full-length coats to cropped jackets and oversized bombers, but nearly all share a sense of exaggerated volume and plushness.
There’s also a distinctly 1980s undercurrent running through the trend. Generous collars, broad shoulders, rounded shapes, and enveloping proportions recall an era when fur was worn as an overt symbol of glamour and luxury. The result feels adjacent to the recent “mob wife” aesthetic, but less costume-driven: this is the underlying visual language—bold, decadent, unapologetic outerwear—being absorbed into designer collections.
The color palette reinforces the retro mood. Rather than treating fur as a vehicle for novelty color, designers largely stick to traditional ivory, cream, camel, tawny brown, chocolate, and deep espresso. Naturalistic markings and mottled textures add another layer of vintage appeal.
What feels particularly interesting is the timing. Resort collections typically have a transitional quality, typically erring towards warm weather (hence, “resort”) yet designers are using substantial fur outerwear as a statement piece rather than a minor cold-weather accent. It suggests that the appetite for texture, volume, and visible luxury is continuing to grow.
After years dominated by understatement and “quiet luxury,” Resort 2027 fur coats offer something decidedly less discreet. Luxury is becoming visible again.
